using your insurance
Many insurance plans cover lactation care as a preventative service, much like a well child visit. When using your insurance for a lactation consult, you will not pay upfront. If you do not use one of the insurance companies listed below, you must prepay for your appointment.

Travel fees for home visits are not covered by insurance.
You cannot book online less than 8 hours before an appointment time or more than 30 days in advance. Text me if you need a same-day appointment. Requesting an appointment does not guarantee the date/time.
After your appointment is accepted, I will text you to collect a bit more information and you will be sent forms to fill out. I cannot start your visit until all of your forms are complete. A delay in completing your forms may delay your appointment or require it to be rescheduled.
If you have United Healthcare…
Please call them to tell them they need to continue to cover the baby for lactation consults (CPT code S9443).
In September 2026, they are imposing an age limit on the only lactation code we can use to be 9yrs+. This means they will stop paying lactation consultants for baby visits. We see 2 patients but will only get paid for 1.
The only way they will change this (lactation consultants already tried to stop it) is if lots of YOU complain. I had the opportunity to be in-network with UHC in June and decided not to sign the contract because of this new rule. PLEASE COMPLAIN. IBCLCs WANT to be in network but we also want to pay our mortgages and eat nutritious meals.
